I have been in the restaurant business for 14 years, managing restaurants and cafes in Chicago, California and North Carolina and also working as a personal chef. I currently manage the Moore Square Farmers Market in Raleigh, NC and have developed wonderful relationships with some of the best farmers and food purveyors this area has to offer. I have always loved to cook and found that my time off from work was always spent experimenting with new recipes, entertaining and cooking for family and friends, and devouring cookbooks like they were poetry. I dream about food. When I travel I often drive hours out of my way to try a regional specialty. I tend to look in other people's shopping carts and ask what they are making. My life is food, and I decided to take that love for food, and my background and training to do what I love full time. Now I have that opportunity to share that passion with others!
My specialty is cooking healthy yet decadent meals using the freshest ingredients possible. There is nothing better than cheese made from a cow down the road, or asparagus picked yesterday. I pride myself in using the highest quality ingredients out there, and frequent many area farmer's markets and specialty stores to find them. I have been featured in local cookbooks and publications, and also serve on the Triangle Chef's Panel with some of the area's top chefs, to figure out how to educate local residents on the benefits of eating local, and to work with restaurants in the area and local farmers to develope strong relationships between the two.
